Isaac Oakman was born about 1749 in County Armagh, Ireland. He emigrated to America sometime before 1774.
Isaac had two sisters – Kennedy and Susan – and two brothers – Henry and William. William had also emigrated to America but we have not yet confirmed where he settled. Henry was a merchant in New York City.
Isaac was a Merchant in the then capital of America, Philadelphia. He married Elizabeth Allen on 20 December 1774 at St Paul’s Church, Philadelphia.
In 1787, Isaac is listed as a Private on the Muster Roll for the 1st Btn Philadelphia Militia commanded by Leut Colonel Francis Gurney.
Isaac does not appear to have had any children and died on 15 September 1805 at the age of 56.
