Jane Oakman is found in the 1855 US Census living in the City of Troy, Rensselaer, New York, with her parents Walter and Eliza Oakman, sisters Eliza, Anna and Margaret and brother Walter.
In 1865, Jane was 23 years of age (born c1837) and married to Thomas Church. She working as a Wash Woman and still living with her parents and sister Eliza. Jane and Thomas’ son, Robert Church was also living with the family.
At the time of the 1870 Census, Jane is widowed and living with her father Walter and sister Eliza, with your two children.
By 1880 Jane has remarried to Michael O’Neil and they have three children together – Michael, Eliza and Margaret. Her son Robert is now about 15 years old and living with his mother and step-father. I have found no trace of Jane’s daughter Annie.
